
On June 9, 2025, law enforcement encountered an unusual situation at Dorothy Miller Park when an officer on patrol discovered a vehicle parked after closing hours. The driver, identified as John C. Krempasky, 38, from Metropolis, was found asleep inside the vehicle. Upon waking him, the officer detected a strong odor of raw cannabis emanating from the car.
When questioned, Krempasky voluntarily handed over a clear baggie containing cannabis. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a total of nine additional baggies of cannabis, alongside methamphetamine and various drug paraphernalia. As a result of the findings, Krempasky was arrested and charged with possession of less than 30 grams of cannabis, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently being held at the Massac County Detention Center.
The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
