The “Sturgeon Moon” is the name given to the full moon that appears in August. This name originates from Native American traditions, particularly those in the Great Lakes region, where sturgeon fishing was most active during this time. The Farmers’ Almanac and other sources use this name to refer to the August full moon. From Almanac.com
