National Solitaire Day - May 22, 2025

Solitaire, a beloved card game that has captivated players for centuries, traces its origins back to the 18th century. The game likely emerged in France, where it was known as “patience,” reflecting the need for strategic thinking and careful planning. By the 19th century, it spread across Europe, gaining popularity in various forms, including the classic Klondike variation we recognize today.

With the advent of personal computers in the late 20th century, Solitaire experienced a revival in a digital format. Microsoft included it in Windows in 1990, introducing the game to millions who found joy in its solitary challenge.

To celebrate its enduring appeal, National Solitaire Day is observed on May 22 each year, with the next edition occurring in 2025. This day invites enthusiasts to recognize the game’s rich history and to indulge in a few rounds, whether played with physical cards or digitally.
