(WMOK) Metropolis, IL – Massac County Sheriff Chad Kaylor joined us on Tuesday for his regularly scheduled Coffee Break. (Second Tuesday of each month) We “excused” Sheriff Kaylor’s absence due to deer hunting in November. Massac County EMA Director Brian Horn joined us for Coffee Break that day in Sheriff Kaylor’s absence.
Sheriff Kaylor advised us this week that Director Horn and others from the county have recently returned from North Carolina. Kaylor said they were gone for several days to help with recovery.
Kaylor advised that while he hates to “jinx” it, there hasn’t been anything majorly disruptive to the community in the last couple of months.
Kaylor told WMOK that the jail population has been at a comfortable number.
We asked Sheriff Kaylor to talk a bit about domestic calls. (Hear our conversation in the interview below)
We discussed cold weather preparedness, outdoor pets and Christmas lights.
As we often do during our Coffee Breaks, we took a detour to discuss room temperature and the Sheriff’s commentary on the recent installation of a ductless mini-split air conditioner and heat pump unit.
The hectic schedule of sports families also crossed our topics, as did holiday movies, outdoor pets, and the county budget.
Sheriff Kaylor also speaks in this episode about his recovery path from a massive heart attack in 2021
