Rural Health Celebrates 7th Anniversary for Their Medication Assisted Treatment Program

ANNA, IL, APRIL 03 – April 03 marks the seventh anniversary of Rural Health, Inc.’s Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program. MAT is the use of medications in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies to provide a “whole patient” approach to the treatment of opioid use disorders. Through research, success in treating substance use disorders was found with the combination of medication and therapy.

MAT services have been found to help sustain recovery for individuals struggling with addiction, and MAT is even used to prevent and reduce opioid overdoses. Rural Health, Inc. believes the program is much needed during this state of opioid crisis for Illinois. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, there were 3,261 fatalities due to opioid overdoses back in 2022.

Rural Health, Inc. is proud of the progress made with the program and is touched to see the lives affected by its restorative purpose. MAT services are provided at all five of Rural Health, Inc.’s clinics with certified providers who are accepting
new patients.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Notice is given of a Public Hearing to be held by the Massac County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Village of Joppa Community Center located at 215 North Avenue, Joppa, IL.

The Massac County Board of Commissioners will consider an Application for a siting permit pursuant to Massac County Ordinance No. 23-2, titled an “Ordinance Governing Commercial Solar Energy Facility Siting,” to permit the siting of a commercial solar energy facility and related facilities (collectively, the “Solar Project”).

The Application is brought by FFP IL Community Solar, a subsidiary of Forefront Power, LLC, acting for itself. A copy of the Application is available at the Massac County Clerk’s Office for examination. The Solar Project will be located on a 19.34 acre parcel of land (PIN: 05.18.300- 027) situated on Old Joppa Road in Massac County. All interested persons are invited to be heard.

Comments may be submitted in writing to the County Board of Commissioners after the hearing and before their regular meeting on April 23, 2024 at 9:00 A.M. Written comments should be sent to: Massac County Board of Commissioners, Attention Mrs. Hailey Miles, County Clerk, Massac County Courthouse, 2 Superman Square, Metropolis, II, 62960. Comments may also be made in-person at the meeting on April 23, 2024 at 9:00 A.M in the board office in the Massac County Courthouse.

As people prepare to set out to view the solar eclipse on April 8, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is sending out a reminder that that is also the first day of spring turkey hunting season. Officials are asking both eclipse viewers and turkey hunters to be mindful of each other. Officials are asking eclipse visitors to state parks to park in designated lots, and not spots designated for hunters.
