Rural Health, Inc. Invites You to Participate in Heart Health Month

ANNA, IL, FEBRUARY 01 – February is American Heart Month and once again Rural Health,
Inc. (RHI) is focusing on blood pressure awareness. Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps blood. Nearly half of American adults live with high blood pressure (hypertension), which develops when blood flows through the arteries at higher than normal pressures. When left untreated, the damage that high blood pressure does to the circulatory system is a significant contributing factor to heart attack, stroke and other health threats.

The organization encourages taking time this month for heart health and is urging
the public to have their blood pressure checked to learn where they stand.

For those interested, RHI will be hosting blood pressure checking stations at the following locations:

 Anna Kroger – February 13 (9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)
 Metropolis Big John’s – February 27 (9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)

Individuals who come out will get their blood pressure checked for free by one of RHI’s medical
professionals and will also receive additional heart/medical resources. RHI wants the public to
know that with proper treatment and management, blood pressure can be controlled, aiding in a longer, healthier life. Individuals wanting to know more about heart health are always
encouraged to speak to their medical provider about any heart-related questions they may have.
