Today – Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. West southwest wind 3 to 5 mph.

Tonight – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. South southwest wind 5 to 7 mph.

Tuesday – A chance of sprinkles after 9am. Partly sunny, with a high near 50. South southwest wind 7 to 10 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Northwest wind 7 to 9 mph.

Wednesday – Mostly sunny, with a high near 47. North northwest wind 6 to 8 mph becoming west in the afternoon.

(WMOK) Metropolis, IL – A run of suspended drivers in from the Metropolis police arrest blotter:

On the 15th a Metropolis Corporal stopped a white Chevrolet pickup truck for equipment violations.  A computer check showed that the registration expired almost a year ago in February of 2023.  A computer check on the driver, Darren M Kidd, age 40 of Metropolis revealed that his driver’s license was suspended.  Kidd was charged with Driving while license suspended,  no valid registration and equipment offenses. Kidd was released on a notice to appear.

On the 23rd  our Metropolis police chief observed a white Dodge Charger proceeding westbound on 10th Street.  The chief clocked the Charger on radar at 55 mph in a posted 35 mph zone. A computer check on the driver Jacob M Ormes age 38  Metropolis showed that he was wanted on a warrant issued by Massac County for failure to appear for driving while his license was suspended. Ormes was arrested and taken to the Massac County detention center arms was arrested and taken to the Massac County detention center and was also issued a citation for speeding.

On the 26th a Metropolis officer stopped a white Buick for speeding at 46 miles per hour in a posted 30 mph zone on 5th and Ferry Streets.  A computer check revealed that the driver, James L. Penrod age 43 of Danville, Illinois had a suspended driver’s license.  Penrod was issued citations for driving while license suspended and speeding – and was released on notice to appear.

The Super Solar Eclipse celebration in Metropolis aims to cultivate a dynamic marketplace where vendors are encouraged to present a rich assortment of unique and high-quality products. We promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere, inviting diverse offerings that cater to the varied interests of our attendees. 

*For vendor applications, please note that space availability is limited; we encourage early submissions to secure your spot in the vibrant marketplace. Additionally, we have a restricted number of food trucks, so prompt application is recommended to participate in this exclusive opportunity.

Vendors will setup along Market Street for the Super Solar Eclipse Celebration. Each vendor will be assigned a number that corresponds with your space.

REQUIRED SETUP DATE: SUNDAY, APRIL 7th at 7 AM 

TEAR DOWN DATE: MONDAY APRIL 8th at 5 PM 

10×10 Electric $100

10×10 Non Electric $50

10×10 Non Electric (Chamber Members) $25

For larger space requirements, please purchase 2 or more 10×10 sites to ensure they are positioned side by side.  Following acceptance, an invoice will be sent via email for your convenience.
