C.O.P.E. Food Pantry in Need of Donations for Approaching Needs

/ WMOK

(WMOK) Massac County, IL – The C.O.P.E. food pantry has advised that they are experiencing an increase in the numbers of patrons per month.  During the month of August alone they supplied 377 pantries to their patrons and the number of patrons they serve increase with each day that they are open.

Though the number of patrons is rising – donations of foodstuffs and funds are dwindling.   COPE organizers advise that the number of “commodities” that they receive from the state has been drastically reduced and the availability of other foods is sporadic at best.

One large concern on the minds of the folks at COPE as the holiday season approaches is funding a large meat order which totals approximately $5000.  This meat order is used to fill Holiday bags that are distributed in December to COPE patrons.

In short , COPE NEEDS YOUR HELP.

Donations for Food items include: canned vegetables, canned soup, canned ravioli, canned spaghetti and meatballs, Spaghetti O’s, Mac & cheese, Saltine crackers, Peanut Butter, boxed cereal , Instant potatoes and other pantry type items.

Monetary donations may be dropped off during COPE distribution hours:

Metropolis – 1013 North Avenue – Metropolis – M,W,F – 9am to 3pm

Brookport – Harry Statham Gymnasium –
2nd and 4th Thursday each month – 9am to noon

Monetary donations may also be mailed to COPE – 1013 North Avenue – Metropolis, IL – 62960
