A Presumably Abandoned Dog Gets a Chance at a Happy New Life After Being Collected by Metropolis Animal Control Officer John Roman

/ WMOK

(WMOK – Metropolis) A social media post made by Metropolis Animal Control and Abatement Officer John Roman garnered a lot of attention early in February.

The post – shown below advised (speaking in the voice of the pooch)

“I have been running with two huskies all over town and in the 400 block of East seventh. I am taking a nap because I had to be darted to get caught so if you know me or my humans please call Metropolis animal control at 1-618-638-8217 thank you”

Among the many comments – a comment from Hailee Nikoa Hutman-Little of Precious Paws Pet Grooming in Paducah stood out.   She commented that she is a certified pet groomer of more than six years and would be happy to come to the Metropolis Pound to take care of removing the mats from the dog as she was sure that it was causing pain.

Officer Roman accepted the offer and over the weekend took to social media again to thank the good Samaritans at Precious Paws for helping out:

“So big shout out to Hailee Nikoa Hutman-little and Steff Gardner from Precious Paws in Paducah for coming over today and grooming and bathing this sweet girl she was a hot mess and did so good never tried to bite anyone and enjoyed her doggie spa day somewhat lol I am so blessed to have so many great people to help these precious pooches thank you everyone who helps us.”
