Vienna High School Covid-19 Update as of Friday, August 27

/ WMOK

Vienna High School Principal Joshua Stafford told WMOK on Friday that over 50 tests were given last week at Vienna High School.
Stafford said that there are 10 current cases among staff and students and points out that that number is down from last week.
Principal Stafford said there are 23 close contacts and 5 of those are vaccinated, therefore, those 5 do not have to test or quarantine.
17 out of the 18 remaining close contacts have opted for the “test to stay option” which means that instead of those individuals having to quarantine they are staying in school as long as they test negative on days 1, 3, 5, and 7.
Out of those 17 that have opted for the “test to stay program” Vienna High School has had 0 individuals test positive. This means that we have 22 individuals that have been able to stay in school for in-person learning and activities. Whereas, without a “test to stay option” all 17 of those individuals would have had to quarantine for two weeks and miss school and activities.
